Hospital Treatment

What Is Hospital Treatment?

Hospital treatment is when dental treatment is performed at the hospital for patients who have severe dental anxiety, complex or extensive treatment plans, complex health issues or who might have a disability that prevents them from being able to have work completed in the dental office environment. The patient is put to sleep with anesthesia while the dentist completes the required treatment.

The Process

Below are the 3 steps for a hospital treatment appointment

1

Book A Consult With A Dentist

First, book a consultation with the dentist. A consult can be done in person or over the phone. The dentist will discuss the treatment plan, answer questions and go over the hospital process.

Please bring your or your child’s BC Personal Health Care Number and current weight. We will need it to fill out the hospital paperwork.

2

Discuss Financials

The next step is discussing the financials with our administrative team. If a patient has insurance, a predetermination will be sent to the insurance company before giving the estimate to the patient. Our administrative team will then assign patients to one of our designated hospital days. The hospital books the time for appointments.

There is a $200 hospital fee that is required prior to a hospital appointment that is not covered by insurance.

3

Hospital To Contact

Once the paperwork is submitted,  the hospital will contact the patients to book a pre-op appointment. The Golden & District Municipal Hospital has created a great video that shows what to expect on the day of the appointment.
