Dr. Briere shows clear aligners to a patient
  • At the Golden Dental Centre, we have two Invisalign® providers. Invisalign® treatment is made up of a series of clear aligners that are worn for one or two weeks at a time. Typically it takes about 25 aligners to complete the adjustment process, but it can sometimes be more depending on the amount of adjustment needed. What helps the teeth move are small tooth-coloured attachments that are strategically shaped and placed on the tooth. The aligners attach to them and use them to pull or push the teeth where they need to be.

  • Commonly known as metal braces, this type of treatment uses metal brackets and wires to move, rotate and correct orthodontic issues. Although less common now, sometimes fixed braces might be recommended over the removable, clear aligner kind depending on the particular patient’s case.

  • Used for kids as a phase one treatment option, this appliance corrects spacing issues by expanding the patient pallet. Each week, a patient uses a special metal key to open the pallet expender one turn, to slowly expand the appliance. The best part? Patients get to choose the colour!

  • This device is used for young children who are still getting adult teeth. With a specialized treatment plan, the appliance helps kids’ jaws grow correctly, to help prevent future orthodontic issues in the future.

We Use Dental Monitoring

Regular orthodontic checks with the dentist is essential for successfully completing a patient treatment plan correctly and on time.

For our Invisalign® and fixed braces patients, we used DentalMonitoring to replace the frequency of in-office dental checks. Using the DentalMonitoring App and the special ScanBox Pro, patients take quick scans of their teeth for the dentist. If there is an issue, the dentist or the patient can use the handy messaging feature to send a quick message anytime, from any place with Wi-Fi.

The Process

Below are the 4 steps to start the orthodontic journey:

1

Book An Orthodontic Assessment

First, call and book an orthodontic assessment. At this appointment, Dr. Briere will discuss the different orthodontic treatment options and the orthodontic process.

2

Book An Orthodontic Workup

The next step will be an orthodontic workup. At this appointment, a dental assistant will take X-rays, photos, and a scan of the patient's mouth. Once a treatment plan is created, a predetermination is sent to insurance and financial documents are created.

3

Book An Orthodontic Consult

A consult appointment will be booked after Dr. Briere has created a treatment plan and the financial documents have been emailed to the patient. At the appointment, Dr Briere will discuss the treatment plan and answer any questions. The orthodontic consent form and the financial agreement will be signed at this appointment.

4

Book An Orthodontic Bond or Fit Appointment

Depending on what type of treatment, this appointment will either be a bond appointment or a fit appointment. Invisalign® and fixed braces require attachment or brackets to be bonded to the teeth to help move them. Once they have been bonded, the patient will then have a tutorial on how to use DentalMonitoring in our consult room.
